Twin Cities Catalyst Music (Catalyst) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with the mission to provide young people with equitable access to see, experience, and participate in the Twin Cities music community.

The organization works to empower young people by providing them “their own spaces” to perform, participate in music education programs, learn valuable employment skills, partake in leadership opportunities, and engage with their local community.
In addition to live performances, the organization offers virtual and in-person free year-round music education programs focused on songwriting, performance, recording, videography, and music production.
Since 2015, Catalyst has presented over 500 live performances for a collective audience of more than 50,000 individuals while working with over 2,000 young aspiring artists through various free mentoring and performance opportunities.

Summary
Twin Cities Catalyst Music seeks a Video Teaching Assistant to assist video education programs as part of the Burnsville Youth Collaborative (BYC). BYC is an after-school and summer program in partnership with District 191 serving middle school students. This program gives students access to a state-of-the-art
performance venue and recording studio where they participate in music and video making opportunities and education. This position is a part-time, temporary, and non-exempt (hourly) position. Compensation for the position is $18 per hour, 10 hours per week during the program year, starting on October 17 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and as needed before the program starts. The Video Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Program & Audio Manager to teach the video portion of the program.

In 2019, Catalyst Music hosted an organizational record of 114 live performances across the Twin Cities metro for over 13,500 artists and attendees. Its after school music programming has continued to grow, now including Burnsville Youth Collaborative at The Garage, Video Production Collaborative, Booking Team, and Catalyst Music Council.
Catalyst Music is at an exciting point in its young history. Before COVID-19, we were adding programs, locations, and innovative ways to connect young people with music. Now, we’re reopening our programs to bring in more young people from our communities, pay even more young people from our communities, offer new ways to support and empower youth to create their own spaces and music ecosystems that are equitable, welcoming, and just.
Catalyst Music needs help to do this. We have a dedicated board of directors, but have openings and a need for more viewpoints and life experiences, which we highlight below. Reach out with any questions!

Responsibilities
- Assist Program & Audio Manager in creating lesson plans and executing video projects.
- Teach middle school aged students the basic fundamentals of video production, including camera operation, lighting, sound recording, and editing techniques.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of video equipment, including cameras, microphones, and editing software.

Deliver engaging lessons and workshops based on video production concepts.

Teach basic video editing and help students create short promo videos and content.

Help students create short form video project(s) quickly in a 7 week time span.

Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements
- Punctuality: arrive to work on time.
- Must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-5pm in Burnsville with some outside class prep and post work required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating video cameras, equipment, and editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and/or similar software.
- Knowledge of content creation and marketing.
- Strong communication skills with guests and team members.
- Positive attitude and demeanor.
- Professionalism with students, guests and team members.
- First aid experience; helpful but not required.
- AAS or Bachelors Degree in Video or Film preferred but not required.

Venue Staff
Job Title: Venue Staff

- Welcome performers & guests into our spaces
- Perform security check with metal detector
- Security detail for the outdoors
- Guard the Green Room, making sure the performers aren’t bombarded with unwanted guests
- Setting up barricades to create a secure outdoor patio
- Observe the show, be the lookout in case anyone is in need of assistance
- Potential opportunities to learn more positions: Box Office and/or Concessions
- Other duties as assigned.
