Music Production
Students learn a basic understanding of Logic Pro music production software in our 2,000 square foot recording studio to create original beats/songs. Topics covered include combining pre-recorded samples, MIDI note patterns, and Logic’s virtual drummers; using MIDI keyboards and drum pads to play and record software instruments in Logic; using microphones and field recorders to record live audio, including vocals, instruments, found sounds to use as musical samples; basic music composition and arrangement theory; audio mixing; creating music scores for video. As music creation has shifted from “having to know how to play an instrument” to a more inclusive process of exploring one’s creative expression without necessarily being a professional musician, students are allowed space to investigate many types and styles of music without being locked in to one particular instrument or genre.
